Alaska To Add BLI

Beginning January 7, 2011, Alaska Airlines will add service between BLI (Bellingham International AIrport, Bellingham, WA) and HNL using 737-890s.

Alaska Airlines' official press release.

According to Howard Dicus' blog, BLI is an airport that Canadians use to avoid paying the higher ticket costs of flying in and out of YVR.

Interesting. BLI is one of the airports I expect to see Allegiant using for their new Hawaii service.

AS already has the infrastructure at both airports, plus the aircraft to perform the flights.

Allegiant is still waiting to receive their 757-200Ws, and projects a spring 2011 start-up of trans-Pacific service.
